How to use this site
This site is an interactive live blog site. This site is exclusive to Central Valley NFTE teachers. The following are instructions on the different features on this site. Please take a moment to read through the following.
Posting to a conversation:
Periodically I will post conversations on our classes and will solicit remarks from all within the community. Here are the steps:
1. Find a post you are interested in placing remarks on.
2. Click on the heading of the post
3. A window will come up that will allow for you to post. Type your response. (Note: If you are familiar with HTML, you can utilize tags if you want.)
4. When you have completed your posting click on publish post. You can sign your name in the space provided.
NFTE News
If you look at the top of the site you will see a series of videos. These videos will update as they are published on the web. Feel free to use these videos in your class. They are all pertaining to NFTE events throughout the nation and internationally. (Note: Due to this feature being driven by Youtube, your school may have video streaming blocked. Check with your network admin for specific rights to show these videos via your computer.)
Quick Comments
On the left hand side of the screen you will see available tools. One of the tools is the Quick Comment. This is an area where you can leave a comment much like Twitter. This is limited to a hundred or so characters. You can use this comment area to request a posting for discussion, ask quick questions or leave an opinion.
Followers
You may choose to follow this blog by simply choosing "Follow Blog". There are some advanced interactive technology you can use with following a blog such as having updates sent to your cellphone, email, or other website when the site is utilized by anyone in the network. Contact me if you want to set these features. Keep in mind that standard text messaging charges will apply from your individual cell phone plan.
Blog Archive
As this site grows, older blogs will go to the archive. The archive will keep all older discussions for you to go back and re-read if needed. Simply click on Blog Archives to view older posts.
Social Sharing
There may be times in the school year when many of us are too busy to attend a meeting or possibly you want to collaborate with another NFTE teacher through Chat. The Social Sharing located at the bottom of this site is an interactive real time chatroom. It is opened whenever you want to use it. Throughout the year, we may schedule online chat sessions to discuss issues within our classrooms. I created this to provide a better way to increase time management. We can actually schedule times at night when we can log on and discuss issues while wearing our fuzzy slippers and enjoying a cappuccino.
As I add new "gadgets" to this site I will also add directions and explanations of the gadget in this area.

This is great, but I am not sure as to how we are to post anything other than a comment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for logging in. The idea is to display best practices in class. If there is something that you want to have posted directly on the site, let me know via email or here on the site and I will post it for you. As this site grows we will be capable of making substantial changes in the future.
